Introduction

Welcome on my personal blog site which is all about Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and still a little bit about End User computing (EUC). Most of my blogs will be technical to extend the documentation from vendors, nice findings, automation and notes from the field.

In my profession as a SDDC/EUC Architect/Engineer I worked with several products from large vendors. In the beginning of my career it was mainly the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager for end point management. Virtual Desktops and Remote Desktop Session Hosts based on Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop. User profile management and automation was all Ivanti Workspace Control & Automation. Since 2017 I made the switch to the VMware product portfolio. As a EUC Architect/Engineer you need to know the whole stack from hardware, to the foundation of the virtual data center and all software on top of it.

In that time I gain a lot of experience with products like:

  • VMware vSphere
  • VMware vSAN
  • VMware NSX(-V & T)
  • VMware Aria Operations
  • VMware Aria Operations for Logs
  • VMware Aria Operations for Networks
  • VMware HCX
  • VMware Site Recovery Manager/vSphere Replication
  • VMware Cloud Director
  • VMware Cloud Director Availability
  • VMware Omnissa Horizon
  • VMware Omnissa App Volumes
  • VMware Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager
  • VMware Omnissa Workspace ONE Access
  • VMware Omnissa Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM)

In 2022/2023 I decided to leave the End User Computing area behind me and focus me more on the SDDC and SDN products from VMware (by Broadcom).
Currently I work as a Cloud Engineer at Uniserver (Alkmaar). We are one of the biggest Cloud Services Providers from The Netherlands and using mostly VMware, Omnissa, Microsoft, Veeam and Zerto products.
